As the Director of the West Africa Centre for Shea Innovation and Research (WACSIR), I am delighted to welcome you to our centre. At WACSIR, we are dedicated to driving sustainable development and innovation in the shea industry across West Africa and the rest of the world. We believe that shea is not just a commodity, but a catalyst for economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, and social and gender equity. Our mission is to drive innovation and excellence, empower communities, particularly women, through research, and capacity building.
we also, facilitate and coordinate research funding, manage the implementation and execution of grants in shea innovation and value chain development research, create networks and platforms for broader interaction among agricultural researchers, development economists, statisticians, policymakers and all other relevant actors in the shea industry. To achieve this, we work closely with local communities, government, international organisations, industry partners and research institutions to identify and address the challenges and opportunities facing the shea industry.
Our work is closely aligned with 8 out of 17 of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
